ROMINA GRANATA

DIRECTOR

Romina is the driving force behind our foundation. She has literally experienced herself what the foundation is trying to tackle. As a 15-year-old girl, Romina ran up against the limits of what her cello teachers in Salta, her hometown in north-western Argentina, could offer her. To keep developing and keep her dream alive, she had to travel 22 hours by bus to Buenos Aires for an hour's lesson. Then 22 hours back again . A journey fraught with dangers for a 15-year-old girl travelling alone. Luckily, Romina had the support of her parents, who were also able to pay for it. For many others, unfortunately, this is not the case. Romina continued to develop, went to study in the United States where she got her master's degree in cello. Today, Romina is a cellist in the Salta Symphony Orchestra. She also plays in the highly renowned Argentine chamber music trio Victoria and recently played at the invitation of the Buenos Aires Philarmonic Orchestra at the Colón Theatre.
